Riyadh Air Expands Asian Network with Direct Flights Between Riyadh and Bangkok

Saudi Arabia's new national carrier, Riyadh Air, has officially launched its non-stop flight service connecting King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh with Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) in Bangkok. The expansion marks the airline's 14th route as it aggressively builds out its long-haul international network.

The new route serves as a major bridge between the Middle East and Southeast Asia, offering travelers a direct alternative to regional hub connections via Dubai or Doha. Operated using state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners configured for up to 290 passengers, the flight duration is approximately seven hours and 20 minutes.

Flight Schedules and Route Details

The newly established schedule caters to business, luxury, and medical tourism demand across both markets:

• Initial Frequency: Operates three times per week. Flights depart Riyadh on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, returning from Bangkok on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
• Frequency Scale-Up: Service will expand to daily (seven flights per week) starting this autumn to support seasonal demand surges.
• Capacity Boost: The initial phase adds over 3,800 seats per month into Thailand, helping stimulate trade and bilateral tourism links.

Supporting Strategic Tourism Goals

According to officials at the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the direct service supports Thailand's strategy to capture high-value Middle Eastern market segments, including wellness, family, and medical travel.

Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas highlighted that expanding Southeast Asian routes directly supports Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 objectives by positioning Riyadh as a global aviation crossroad and trade hub.
