The campaign aims to eliminate transit barriers through Kathmandu, unlocking direct access for international tourists and the significant Nepali diaspora residing in the Gulf region.

As Nepal’s tourism capital and the gateway to the Annapurna Circuit, Pokhara opened its modern international airport to decentralize air traffic from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. However, the lack of scheduled international routes has limited the facility's potential. Securing non-stop connectivity to a global aviation hub like Dubai International Airport is seen as the critical catalyst to drive sustained economic growth.

Unlocking High-Value Tourism and Diaspora Transit

Direct air links between Dubai and Pokhara would cut transit times significantly for long-haul travelers from Europe, North America, and the Middle East. Currently, visitors heading to Phewa Lake or embarking on Himalayan treks face mandatory layovers and potential weather delays in Kathmandu.

"Connecting Pokhara directly to Dubai changes the entire dynamic of Nepal’s tourism sector," said local tourism board representatives. "It offers international adventure travelers a seamless route straight to the mountains while providing a convenient, direct option for thousands of Nepalis working in the UAE."

The initiative focuses on pitching market feasibility to regional carriers, including flydubai and international operators, highlighting strong year-round demand driven by adventure tourism, wellness travel, and outbound labor traffic.
