LOT Polish Airlines Resumes Direct Warsaw to Bangkok Flights After 26 Years
LOT Polish Airlines officially inaugurated direct non-stop service between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport this week, marking the flag carrier's return to the Thai capital after a 26-year absence.
The route, operated using LOT’s flagship Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, re-establishes a historical corridor first established in 1977 and suspended in March 2000. Flight LO65 departed Warsaw in the late afternoon, completing the 10-hour-and-20-minute journey to Southeast Asia's busiest aviation hub.
The launch underscores LOT Polish Airlines’ strategy to expand its long-haul presence across key Asian markets while positioning Warsaw as a primary transit gateway for travelers originating across Central and Eastern Europe.

Expanding Frequencies for the Winter Travel Season
Initial operations will run three times weekly through late October. However, as winter demand for long-haul leisure travel ramps up, the airline plans to ramp up service to five weekly frequencies before expanding to six weekly departures starting in early November.
The flight schedule is tailored to accommodate both leisure travelers seeking warm-weather getaways and corporate passengers connecting through LOT’s Star Alliance hub in Warsaw. The return leg (LO66) operates overnight from Bangkok, landing back in Warsaw early the following afternoon to align with onward European connections.

"Bangkok has consistently ranked among the most requested long-haul destinations for travelers across Central Europe," said Robert Ludera, Chief Commercial Officer at LOT Polish Airlines, during the launch ceremony at Chopin Airport. "This direct link not only makes Thailand more accessible to Polish travelers, but also builds a vital trade and tourism bridge between Southeast Asia and Central Europe."

Strategic Growth Across Asian Corridors
The resumption of flights to Thailand builds on LOT’s broader long-haul network expansion, which includes established routes to Tokyo, Seoul, and Delhi.
Industry analysts note that direct air links to Southeast Asia are recovering rapidly as European travelers seek direct long-haul options that avoid complex layovers. With ticket sales now open through the 2027 summer season, LOT management remains confident that strong demand across both cabin classes will support year-round operations on the route.
