High-End International Leisure Travel Drives 27 Percent Revenue Jump for Global Hotel Alliance
Cross-border luxury travel is surging, and independent hotel operators are reaping the rewards. Global Hotel Alliance reported a 27% year-on-year increase in total revenues for the third quarter, topping $1.04 billion as affluent international travelers continue to prioritize experiential stays abroad.
The alliance, which represents over 60 independent luxury and lifestyle hotel brands across 100 countries, pointed to a major rebound in long-haul leisure bookings as the primary driver behind the performance. Room revenues reached $843 million in Q3, fueled by a 33% increase in room nights and longer stays overall. Cross-border booking revenue accounted for nearly $2 billion across the first nine months of the year, underlining a sustained shift toward high-end international trips over localized staycations.

Industry analysts note that high-net-worth travelers are increasingly seeking out distinct, localized luxury options rather than standardized chain properties. Data from the World Travel & Tourism Council aligns with this pattern, showing international leisure spending outpacing broader economic growth as global connectivity stabilizes.
Engagement within loyalty networks also played a major role in driving Q3 growth. GHA DISCOVERY added 1.3 million new members during the quarter, bringing its global network to 38 million travelers. Cross-brand stays—where members stay across multiple distinct brands within the alliance—surged 53% to $168 million, demonstrating that flexible, multi-brand loyalty models are effectively retaining premium travelers.
As independent hotels gain greater visibility on the global stage, the Q3 results demonstrate that the appetite for high-end, cross-border travel remains robust heading into the final quarter of the year.
