Filipino Hospitality Giant Hotel101 Expansion Hits Egypt with 750-Room Cairo West Hotel
The hospitality landscape of Greater Cairo is set for a massive boost as Nasdaq-listed Hotel101 Global Holdings Corp. officially targets Egypt for its debut on the African continent. Partnering with WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of local real estate developer IGI Holding, the company has agreed to build Hotel101-Cairo West—a flagship 750-room hotel project valued at approximately $102 million (EGP 5.47 billion).
The ambitious development covers nearly 16,000 square meters in the 6th of October city corridor. Designed to cater to both leisure travelers and corporate guests, the property will sit just ten minutes away from two of Egypt's major tourist draws: the Giza Pyramids and the newly opened Grand Egyptian Museum.
A Landmark First for Asian Hospitality Brands in Egypt
This move marks the first time a major homegrown Filipino hospitality business model has expanded directly into Egypt. Parent company DoubleDragon Corporation has built a reputation on standardizing its rooms into uniform 26-square-meter units, allowing individual investors to purchase room shares while the brand manages centralized hotel operations.

Under the joint venture agreement signed by Hotel101 Global founder Edgar "Injap" Sia II and IGI Holding vice chairman Khaled Sheta, construction works will pave the way toward a targeted completion date in 2029. Once operational, Hotel101-Cairo West will stand among the largest hotels by room count anywhere in the Egyptian capital.
Capitalizing on Egypt's Growing Tourism Boom
Egypt continues to post record-breaking numbers across its travel sector, drawing over 19 million global visitors annually while rapidly modernizing infrastructure around the Pyramids plateau and west Cairo sub-markets. The influx of international travelers has created strong demand for affordable, standardized mid-market lodging options alongside luxury resort developments.
Industry observers note that adding 750 keys near major transit highways will help relieve hotel capacity constraints during peak travel seasons. Beyond guest rooms, the master plan for the Cairo West site calls for large-scale conference rooms, outdoor swimming pools, a wellness fitness center, and multi-cuisine dining options.

Global Strategy for 1 Million Rooms
The Cairo property forms a core piece of Hotel101's broader international goal to secure a footprint in 25 priority countries over the medium term, on its way toward operating one million standardized rooms globally.
The company already opened its flagship European hotel in Madrid, Spain, while moving forward with upcoming developments in Niseko, Japan, as well as sites in Los Angeles, Milan, and Saudi Arabia.
