Egypt Tourism Revenue Forecast to Hit 21 Billion Dollars by 2030
Egypt’s international tourism sector is locking in a steady long-term growth trajectory, with updated market forecasts projecting annual tourism revenues to reach $21.15 billion by 2030. Driven by substantial infrastructure expansion, airport capacity upgrades, and sustained demand across major European source markets, the country expects annual international visitor arrivals to climb to 23.78 million over the same period.
According to industry data released by Fitch Solutions, the detailed forecasts highlight the central role tourism continues to play as a primary source of foreign currency and job creation for the national economy.
Expanding Aviation Infrastructure and Room Capacity
To accommodate the steady increase in foreign arrivals, government agencies and private investors are pouring capital into transportation networks and hotel capacity. A major component of this expansion includes the planned development of a fourth terminal at Cairo International Airport, designed to expand its total operational capacity to 70 million passengers annually.
National carrier EgyptAir and regional operators are simultaneously expanding their fleets to meet growing seasonal demand across European and Middle Eastern routes. Detailed insights into national development strategies and long-term economic goals are available through the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development portal.
Higher Nightly Spend and High-Value Tourism
Beyond sheer passenger volume, the updated national narrative places heavy emphasis on increasing average tourist expenditure. Hotel developments along the Red Sea coast, South Sinai, and the Mediterranean North Coast are increasingly targeting luxury and eco-conscious travelers to raise average nightly spending.
Culture and heritage tourism remain equally pivotal anchors for the economic roadmap. The anticipated opening and full-scale operations around the Grand Egyptian Museum, paired with luxury Nile cruise itineraries, are expected to extend average stay durations and maintain steady booking momentum throughout the year.
