Dubai Welcomes 869,000 International Visitors in August as Tourism Rebounds
Dubai welcomed 869,000 international overnight visitors in August 2026, marking its strongest monthly tourism performance since February. Released by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the latest figures highlight a sharp recovery heading into the autumn travel season, bringing the emirate's total year-to-date arrivals to nearly 7 million.
The surge in August numbers follows steady month-on-month growth after a challenging spring. Hotel occupancy across the city climbed to 66% last month, rising significantly from a low of 36% recorded in March.
Market Diversification and Hospitality Expansion
Key drivers behind the recent rebound include restored regional flight connectivity, strong demand across core target markets, and extensive hotel sector upgrades.

Key metrics from the latest report include:
- Top Regional Source Markets: Western Europe led total visitation from January through August at 20%, followed closely by South Asia at 17%, the GCC at 16%, and CIS/Eastern Europe at 14%.
- Occupied Room Nights: Hotels across the emirate logged 21.61 million occupied room nights during the first eight months of the year.
- Expanding Inventory: Total hotel capacity reached nearly 149,000 rooms by the end of August, even as several properties underwent major infrastructure upgrades.
Industry figures were released alongside the opening of Arabian Travel Market 2026, where local officials and trade delegates gathered to review long-term growth objectives under the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). Aviation partners, including flagship carrierEmirates, have continued scaling international capacity into Dubai International Airport (DXB) to support rising passenger volume through the fourth quarter.
