Air Canada to Launch Historic Nonstop Flights Between Montréal and Seville
Air Canada has announced plans to launch seasonal nonstop flights connecting Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) with Seville, Spain (SVQ) beginning September 8, 2027. The new route establishes the first and only direct flight corridor linking North America directly to Andalusia’s capital.
Operating up to four times weekly, the route will be served by Air Canada’s next-generation Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The narrow-body long-range aircraft features 182 seats, including 14 lie-flat Signature Class suites alongside 168 Economy Class seats, giving transcontinental travellers premium comfort on long-haul sectors.
The destination becomes Air Canada’s fifth nonstop market in Spain, complementing existing operations into Madrid, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, and Tenerife.

Unlocking Direct Access to Southern Spain
For decades, long-haul visitors travelling to southern Spain were forced to connect through major European hubs like Madrid or Frankfurt. The direct Montréal connection eliminates intermediate transfers, cutting transit times significantly for both leisure travellers and regional commerce.
"Seville represents a strategic addition to our growing European footprint," said airline executives during the route reveal. Known for its rich Moorish heritage, world-renowned architecture, and vibrant culinary scene, Seville serves as the primary gateway to the broader Andalusian region.
Convenient departure and arrival times in Montréal also allow seamless single-ticket connections for passengers originating across key cities in the U.S. and western Canada. Passengers can check updated schedules and reservation details via Air Canada.
Strategic Transatlantic Expansion
The addition of Seville marks a continuing expansion strategy utilizing fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft to open secondary long-haul markets. The move follows previously announced summer route additions out of Montréal to European destinations including Basel-Mulhouse and Dubrovnik.
Aviation analysts note that mid-size European destinations are seeing strong demand outside peak summer months, making early autumn launches ideal for capturing shoulder-season travel. Tourism boards in Spain expect the non-stop link to drive sustained visitor arrivals across southern Spain during the mild fall and spring periods.
Schedules and booking availability are set to open progressively across global distribution platforms, with regulatory details available via Aena, Spain’s national airport operator.
