Abu Dhabi Offers Free Entry Visas for Indian Travelers This Season
Planning a trip to the UAE just got noticeably cheaper for Indian vacationers. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has officially launched a travel trade initiative that provides complimentary UAE entry visas to eligible Indian passport holders.
Running from August 1 through October 31, 2026, the pilot program aims to reduce upfront trip expenses and encourage longer stays across the emirate by covering full entry visa costs. The program is currently capped at 20,000 visas for its initial three-month trial run, offering savings of AED 285 (~₹6,400) per passenger.
How the Complimentary Visa Scheme Works
Unlike standard visa processing where tourists apply independently via immigration channels like the UAE Government Portal, this fee waiver is integrated directly into qualifying travel packages.
To qualify for the free visa, travelers must hold a valid Indian passport and depart directly from an airport in India with a confirmed return ticket. The booking must include a minimum stay of three consecutive nights at a hotel in Abu Dhabi, reserved through a participating travel agency or online booking platform.
Under this model, DCT Abu Dhabi either covers visa fees directly through appointed Destination Management Companies (DMCs) or reimburses partner agencies per issued visa. Why This Initiative Matters for Travelers
India remains one of Abu Dhabi's primary international tourism source markets. For families and larger holiday groups, upfront visa fees can add several hundred dollars to total trip costs. By waiving the AED 285 charge per passenger, local authorities hope to position the capital as an attractive, budget-friendly destination for short-haul trips and long weekend breaks.
Abdulla Yousuf, Director of International Operations at DCT Abu Dhabi, noted that covering visa costs makes it simpler for Indian travelers to choose Abu Dhabi while giving travel trade partners a stronger incentive to recommend the city's cultural landmarks, entertainment parks, and resorts.
